Class Description

Join me to learn how to crochet! Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to touch up your basic skills, this class will introduce you to proper crochet techniques and basic stitches.

You will learn how to start a project and make a simple square and circle using single crochet stitches. I will also introduce other stitches and projects that you’ll have the tools for after taking this course.

I will teach by demonstrating crochet techniques, but also by providing ample individual support, which is not something that a lot of online crochet tutorials provide. You’ll be able to ask me questions and show me your work, and I’ll help you troubleshoot in real time and ensure that you get the most out of the class.

I’m looking forward to introducing you to this amazing art form! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Class Requirements

None

Class Supplies

Any yarn and a corresponding crochet hook (I recommend medium/worsted-weight yarn and a size H/5.00mm hook).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is crochet? Isn't that just knitting?

Crochet is a fiber art similar to knitting, but it uses one hook instead of two needles. You can use both techniques to make all sorts of things, such as hats, scarves, blankets, sweaters, stuffed animals, and much more!

What if I'm not very artsy or crafty?

That’s okay! No craft experience is needed.

What if I already know how to crochet? Can I still take this class?

Of course! If you learned to crochet a long time ago or haven’t fully grasped the basics and want a refresher, you are welcome in this class! If you know how to crochet well, though, this class may not be very useful to you, and I would suggest taking an intermediate crochet class!

I don't want to spend money on expensive yarn and tools. What should I do?

No need to spend lots of money! You can get yarn and a crochet hook from your local craft store, or online, for under $10.

Why would I want to learn to crochet?

This is a great skill that improves fine motor skills and can reduce stress. The things you crochet can make great gifts, and learning to crochet can make it easier to learn other fiber arts! Learning this skill can open a lot of doors, but most importantly, it’s fun! One of my favorite ways to relax is to crochet and listen to an audiobook or a podcast.
