Zines were really popular in the 80s and 90s. They were small little books that fit in the palm of your hand to help spread messages about anything you wanted. They come in all different sizes, but they were made so they could be easily printed and shared to get a message out to the masses. Maybe you want to spread hope by creating happy messages for people. Maybe you feel strongly about a certain environmental issue and want to help educate people. Or maybe you love pizza and want the world to know! The beauty of this project is the subject can be about anything you want!
One just needs to come to class with an open heart and mind.
The best part about this class is you can literally start with one piece of printer paper 8 1/2 x 11 and a pencil and scissors! But if you want to really create some interest, markers, paint, pens, old magazines and stickers are helpful.
A color printer is helpful but not necessary. You can bring your finished project to your nearest neighborhood printer for copies. This is for trading purposes later! It’s nice to keep the original copy for your portfolio.
