Class Description
Welcome to Music with Mr. Aaron!
This course is an online adaptation of in-person music classes that I have taught previously while serving as Music Director at a summer day camp for the Forsyth County Parks and Rec. We will be exploring different genres of music and their history. We will also be exploring scientific concepts behind sound waves and learning basic DAW recording techniques utilizing free software.

Class Supplies
-A computer or laptop
-Audacity Recording Software (available for free online)
-A USB microphone (Or built-in computer mic, it doesn’t have to be professional quality)
FAQ
What age group is this intended for?
Ages 8-99! Younger kids are more than welcome to attend the course but there will be a focus on scientific concepts that are typically addressed beginning in the 3rd grade.
Where can I download Audacity? Is it free?
Audacity is a free recording software that can be downloaded via the following link to their website.
In later courses I will be utilizing more powerful DAW programs but for the purposes of this course Audacity will be more than sufficient.
What if I don't have a microphone?
Most laptops and headphone sets have built-in microphones these days which will be sufficient for the purposes of this course. If you don’t have any access to a microphone you will still be able to follow along visually as I will be sharing my screen during the course, but I’d reccomend getting a decent microphone if music is something that you’d like to pursue. My primary USB mic is a Blue Snowball iCE, which can be purchased brand new for around $50 from most electronic retailers.
